The focus of the 2024 EMAS Digital Summer School will be on How to assess and manage health risks in menopausal women and the Long-term effects of menopausal hormone treatment, featuring first-class lectures by esteemed experts.
Since its creation in 1998, the European Menopause and Andropause Society (EMAS) encourages and stimulates excellence in health professionals and researchers through its journals, congresses, guidelines, schools, webinars, podcasts, website, and awareness activities.

Dr. Angelica Lindén Hirschberg is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. She is Head of the Women´s Health Research Unit and a Consultant Gynecologist in charge of Gynecological Endocrinology at the Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden. Her research is focused on interaction between sex steroids and metabolism of importance for female reproduction, sports, sexuality and metabolic health in both reproductive age and postmenopausal women. Professor Hirschberg is a fellow of the Endocrine Society and Androgen Excess and PCOS Society (AE-PCOS), a member of the board of the International Society of Gynecological Endocrinology (ISGE), President of the European Menopause and Andropause Society (EMAS), editor for the international journal Maturitas, and a member of the editorial board of Gynecological Endocrinology, the official journal of ISGE, and of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (JCEM). She is also the official gynecologist of the Swedish Olympic Teams, medical advisor to World Athletics and the International Olympic Committee (IOC). She was awarded the 2016 Grand Prize in Sport Science. In 2009 Professor Hirschberg was appointed a Physician-in-Attendance to the Swedish Royal Family and she was awarded the King’s Seraphim Medal, 8th size, in 2018.

Dr Lambrinoudaki was born in Athens and graduated from Athens University Medical School. She conducted her Doctoral Thesis at Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany on the Epidemiology of osteoporosis in association with endogenous sex hormones. She was trained in Clinical Endocrinology in the Department of Pathophysiology, at Athens University Medical School and in the Departments of Endocrinology and Metabolism, at Ruprecht Karls University, Heidelberg, Germany, in Nikaia General District Hospital, Piraeus, Greece and in Queen Mary Hospital, University of Hong Kong. She is a Professor of Endocrinology in the 2nd Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Medical School, University of Athens, Greece. She has been responsible for her department's educational, clinical and research activities since 2000. She has authored 280 publications (November 2023) in peer-reviewed international journals, mainly on gynaecological endocrinology, menopause, hormone therapy and osteoporosis. She is President of the Hellenic Society of Climacterium and Menopause, Past President of the European Menopause and Andropause Society (EMAS, 2015-2017), Scientific Director of EMAS (2017-today) and Editor in Chief of the journal MATURITAS, I.F. 5.11, the official journal of EMAS. She is the recipient of the 2018 Henry Burger Prize which the International Menopause Society awards to the Scientist with the most significant contributions in the field of menopause in the previous five years of a World Congress.

Dr. Eleni Armeni, a dedicated Reproductive Endocrinology specialist, has a career spanning Athens, Greece, to London, UK, where she serves as an Endocrinology and Diabetes Consultant. With expertise in reproductive and cardiovascular endocrinology, Eleni focuses on managing post-menopausal women and those with polycystic ovary syndrome. Her PhD, in collaboration with the University of Athens, delved into cardiovascular endocrinology in menopausal women with PCOS history. Holding an MSc in diabetes mellitus post-menopausal transition from the University of South Wales, she explores sex hormone connections to cardiometabolic conditions. She holds leadership roles in various endocrinology societies.
Dr Dorenda van Dijken

Dr. Dorenda van Dijken, a native of Amsterdam, completed her medical education at the University of Amsterdam. Since 1994, she has served as a gynecologist at the OLVG in West Amsterdam, formerly known as the Lucas Andreas Hospital and, earlier, the Andreas Hospital. Dr. van Dijken has dedicated over 25 years to addressing the challenges and treatments associated with menopause, making it her primary sub-specialization within gynecology.
Since 2015, Dr. van Dijken has been the chair of the Dutch Menopause Society (DMS). Within the Dutch Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (NVOG), she actively contributes to the areas of menopause and medical training. Additionally, she is a co-author of various national and international guidelines and participates in scientific research. Dr. van Dijken is deeply involved in providing further training and education on menopause, organizing conferences, and teaching at training programs for nursing transition consultants and GP trainers.
Dr. van Dijken also serves as a board member of the European Menopause and Andropause Society (EMAS).
